RAFAL SOKOLOWSKI is a theatre and
film director of Polish origin based in Toronto. After
receiving a degree in Biology at the University of Toronto,
he began his theatre training at the National Theatre
School of Canada. A year after graduation he was awarded
the Fox Scholarship from New York to study directing
at the National Theatre Academy of Krakow. Since then
he has worked with the Soulpepper Theatre Company, Montreal
Young Company, Resurgence Theatre, Theatre Francaise,
and Pleiades Theatre. He took part in Jonathan Miller’s
Master Class and Mike Alfred’s World Stage Festival.
After directing theatre for over a decade in Toronto,
Montreal, and Krakow, Rafal made his first film: LIGHTCHASERS.
He is currently teaching acting and directing at Ryerson
University, Soulpepper Theatre, and Wexford School for
the Arts, while working on developing his next film.
